Contribute to Change Made

Change Made is building a visual journalism platform focused on culture, climate, and social change stories rooted in community. We are dedicated to telling stories about change to help people create more real-world impact.

We’re growing a freelance roster of photojournalists, filmmakers, writers, editors, and visual storytellers who want to report and create with intention.

What we’re looking for

  • Strong visual storytelling (photo/video) with a documentary approach

  • Community-rooted reporting and ethical story practice

  • Curiosity about solutions: what’s working, who’s building, and what it takes

  • People who can work independently and collaborate when needed

How to reach out (no form—just email)

Send an email to sid@changemade.co with the subject line:

“Change Made Freelance Roster — [Your Name]”

Submission checklist (this is crucial)

This keeps things fair and manageable.

  1. A short intro (3–5 sentences) + where you’re based

  2. Links to 1–3 samples (portfolio, reel, published work)

  3. The kind of stories you want to tell (2–3 bullet ideas is perfect)

  4. Your availability + location/travel range

  5. Your rate range (or say “rate negotiable”)

Emails missing this information may not be reviewed.

If there’s a fit for an upcoming assignment or collaboration, we’ll follow up.

Please note: We’re currently looking to fill our roster with visual storytellers from Canada. If you’re from a country from outside of Canada you can still reach out but note that assignments are limited at this time.

Pay & Commissions

Rates & compensation

Change Made commissions work on a case-by-case basis, depending on scope, format, and funding. We prioritize fair pay and transparent conversations upfront. Rates will always be discussed before work begins.

Some projects may be tied to grants or partnerships; others are independently commissioned. We’ll always be clear about expectations before moving forward.

We’re especially interested in storytellers who know how to work with care, ethics and accountability to the communities they document.

Thanks for taking the time to reach out and for wanting to build this work with us.
